Danielle grew up not fitting in. Becoming disabled in her teens turned her world upside down, but she learned that even in adversity we can choose how we respond to barriers. She shares what inclusion looks like when we get it right. As the first disabled person to represent England as an able-bodied athlete (and win gold) at the Commonwealth Games, she achieved something that hadn’t been done before because she refused to listen to people who saw her disability rather than her ability. And in doing so, she has changed perceptions of what people can truly achieve.
She started archery on her fifteenth birthday and made the Great Britain team three years later. She jumped straight in as World Number 1, and hung on to that position for the rest of her career. She won gold in Beijing 2008, and retained her title on home soil in London 2012. Her story raises levels of thinking and is wrapped around by solid strategies and practical takeaways.
